power mode can't be set while the high performance power plan is used

I cannot change the power mode because I get this message...... power mode can't be set while the high performance power plan is used.
The problem is there is nothing I have been able to do to even find a "high performance power plan" or how to turn it off. The final mission is trying to change this laptop so I can close the screen while keeping the external monitor on. Clicking the "power mode" does nothing.

This is a laptop with win 11

This is what fixed it for me. The videos just took me to , system>power that was locked and I could not change anything. Below is what did it for me. All working fine now.

    Thank you.

Fix 6 – Create a new power plan

You can create a power plan and name it accordingly.

    1. You have to press the Windows key+Rkeys together.
    2. Type “powercfg. cpl” and click on “OK“.

    From Microsoft's own website:

Note:You might not be able to change the power mode when a custom power plan is selected. If you can’t set the power mode in Power & battery settings, openControl Panel, select System and Security > Power Options, then choose a Balancedpower plan.

Use Windows key and S and then type Control Panel.

    Hope that helps!

Hey! I'm having this same issue, but I keep having to go into control panel and change this back every time I unplug and re-plug in my computer. It always seems to switch back to the Control Panel's "High Performance" mode instead of the new setting's "High Peformance" mode? I'm not really sure why they're different but it won't stay consistent.

Also, I'm not 100% sure if it's related but it also seems to prevent my computer from going to sleep all the time, resulting in it overheating whenever it's in my backpack.
