Applications requiring internet connection taking forever to load

Recently, applications requiring internet connection to work have been taking longer to open and function such as discord, steam and Microsoft store.

However, loading webpages vary with some loading instantly, some taking a while to load and others not wanting to load at all.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling discord as a test, deleting its install folder as well. This did not fix the problem.

The funny thing is, with discord, images and videos load fine. This is the same with YouTube as I can watch videos but some other websites wont load.

Steam will tell me I have connection issues and won't load my profile, take forever to download updates and won't let me play some games requiring an internet connection but then goes onto load news feeds and store pages.

Some methods I've used to try solve this issue but haven't worked are:

Updated ethernet driver (I225-V)

Startup with Microsoft services only

Safemode startup and full scan with malwarebytes (free)

sfc /scannow

IPv4 and 6 large send offload disabled

changed DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

ipconfig /flushdns

disabled p2p update delivery optimization

netsh TCP/IP reset

winsock reset

Some things I've noticed while trying to fix this issue:

Desktop sometimes flashes black, all icons on taskbar disappear then reappear (this did occur before the current issue I'm having)

I tried to update my GPU driver however, NVIDIA GPU driver search would tell me "This site can't be reached" when I tried to click 'search' after entering my GPU specifications

I was able to download and install latest intel I225-V ethernet driver (website would load like normal and file downloaded normally)

Again, some websites load instantly, some slowly and some wont load at all

I tried to install Avast and some updates from the Microsoft store after it had loaded. Avast would be stuck on installing 0% while MS store couldn't download the updates

I did an internet speed test which showed me that my internet was working how it usually would.

Windows defender runs fine normally but in safe mode it would be stuck at 0 files scanned, scan time 0:00:00. Malwarebytes could run in safe mode.

Device Specifications:

Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor 3.70 GHz

RAM: 16.0 GB

GPU: RTX 3080

Windows Edition: Windows 10 Home

Version: 21H2

build: 19044.1645

Any help would be appreciated because I have no idea what caused this.

    Thanks David, resetting the router fixed it.

    I had previously tried it but it must have worked after following your help.

    Hi AlexMasonTZ.

    I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

    Check proxy settings:

    1. Press "Windows + R", type "inetcpl.cpl", and click Ok.
    2. Select the "Connections" tab and click on "LAN Settings";
    3. Uncheck "Automatically detect settings";
    4. Also, uncheck the option "Use a proxy server for your LAN..." if checked;
    5. Click OK in both windows.
    6. Restart your PC.

    If it persists, reset network settings:

    (Apparently you've already done this. But do it again as instructed below.)

    1. Open Start and select "Settings > Network & Internet > Status";
    2. At the bottom of the page, click on "Network Reset";
    3. Select "Reset Now", and at the confirmation screen, select "Yes";

    Note: The PC will need to be restarted.

    1. Now open Start and type cmd;
    2. Right-click on "Command Prompt" in the result list and select "Run as administrator";
    3. At the Command Prompt, type the following commands one at a time and press Enter:

    netsh int ip reset

    netsh advfirewall reset

    netsh winsock reset

    ipconfig /release

    ipconfig /renew

    ipconfig /flushdns

    1. Restart your PC and see if the issue is resolved.

    If it persists, perform a clean boot to see if any third-party program in the background is causing this problem. Follow the instructions carefully.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-t...

    If the problem does not occur after a clean boot. In this same article, there is a technique to help you identify which program is causing this in "How to determine what is causing the problem after you do a clean boot".

    After finding the cause or if it does not help, return to normal boot as instructed in "Reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting".

    I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions.

    Unplug the router from the power outlet for 15 seconds and plug it in again.

    If the behavior persists, clarify the following:

    What is the manufacturer and model of the computer?

    From which site did you download the "intel I225-V ethernet" driver?

    Do you have another device connected to this same network? If yes. Have you checked if the same behavior is occurring?

    Hi David,

    Thanks for the reply,

    I have followed all the steps you provided and I'm still having the issue even on a clean boot.
