Has anyone figured out why JewelQuest two won't run on Windows 10. One day I got a message that said Microsoft had determined that Jewelquest two was a security risk and removed it from my computor. I purchased this game on a cd many years ago and it has never caused problems. I reinstalled it but now get a message saying this app won't run on this PC. Funny thing is that it does run on my other laptop.

JewelQuest is adware, i.e., something that displays unwanted ads on your desktop, and the ads often point to something that will be harmful to your computer.

I don't know the history of JewelQuest, but I can tell you that many formerly 'good' games and websites go rogue when the original developer decides to stop working on them. They often sell the website or the game to the highest bidder, who promptly turns it into adware or worse.

Would that also apply to a version of Jewel Quest bought on a CD from a computor store decades ago? I am limited technically but know better than to down load a free version of any game. PS - Rotties are great dogs!

Dear janiebakes,maybe the game is no longer compatible with Windows 10;

You can try running the game in compatibility mode;

Access the game installation folder;

Right-click on the game's .exe file and go to Properties;

Click on the Compatibility tab;

Check the option "Run this program in compatibility mode" and select Windows 7;

Check the option "Run this program as an administrator";

Click Apply and then OK;

Try starting the game again;

Thanks for helping me Luiz, There is no antivirus program on my laptop other than Defender. I would rather not post a screen shot of the error message because it shows all the info on my desktop. It is however, a blue rectangle that says : This app can't run on your PC. To find a version that will run on your PC check with the software publisher.

The game was installed using a purchased CD more than twenty years ago. There is no contact info on the case. It ran on this PC with no problems for more than 5 years until MicroSoft decided there was a potenial problem and stopped it. Jane

I understand that the JewelQuest 2 game is not working on Windows 10;

Have you installed any antivirus other than Defender?

If so, I recommend temporarily disabling/uninstalling it for testing;

It would be nice if you could post again with a screenshot at the moment the error message appears;
