russian keyboard/onscreen keyboard

Is there any way to type in russian, using the cyrilic alphabet. i don't want to type phonetically with an english keyboard nor do i want to switch over to exclusively a russian keyboard. is there an option to use on occasion?

what is the onscreen keyboard for? I have dexterity problems and am wondering if that is something that can be used in place of typing on the keys? Is there a shift function. If you could provide some information on this, I'd appreciate it. thank you

    Hi paulaE

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

I need a bit more information on your requirements.

You have a physical English language keyboard and you do not want to use a Russian keyboard, is that correct?

If you want to type Cyrillic characters on an English keyboard, you just need to use a Cyrillic font to produce Cyrillic characters.

You can also add the Russian keyboard language in Settings - Time and Language - Language

You can then swap to the Russian Keyboard Language at the bottom right of your screen.

Another option may be then to use the on-screen keyboard

However, none of the above will allow you to see those characters on your keyboard

    Hi paulaE.

Rest assured, there is no risk of loosing the English keyboard, you can switch between both languages using the language bar on the taskbar.

Yes, that is correct, you need a Cyrillic font to type Russian Characters

    2
To be able to see the Cyrillic keyboard on your screen you would need to install the Russian keyboard language in Settings - Time and Language - Language

Then, set your keyboard language to Russian from the keyboard icon on your Taskbar.

thanks since the cyrillic appears on the screen, there isn't any probem is there that i coudlnt' switch back to english for my regular use. Has that ever happened? That's what concerns me prior to trying this.
