Intel Core i7-7920HQ Processor

I am running a Dell Precision 7720 with an Intel i7-7920HQ @3.10GHz. Running the PC Health for Windows upgrade from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 11 says everything is fine to upgrade except the processor however, when looking at Microsoft Windows support processors for upgrade on Windows 10 21H2 under Supported Intel Processors this processor is listed.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/design/minimum/supported/windows-10-21h1-supported-intel-processors

Is this processor supported or not? Could someone let me know if they have successfully upgraded with this processor? Frustrating that a three year old computer would not be supported but an eight year old computer I own is supported for the upgrade? Why does that make sense?

Thank you for any help!

    Hi RoseP,

I'm Rodrigo and I will help you.

This processor is not on the Windows 11 supported Intel processors list, as you can see in the link below.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardwa...

The list you sent is for Windows 10 21H2, not Windows 11.

You can still install Windows 11 on unsupported hardware, but this is not recommended and you will not be able to receive updates, more information in the link below

What is the processor of this eight-year computer that you said is compatible?

Thank you for your help! It is frustrating to have a newer laptop and not be compatible with Microsoft Windows upgrades.
