- Windows update KB5011831

So I’m pretty much convinced that the new cumulative update that rolled out on April 25 2022, has bugs. when I turn off certain windows services it completely starts making the system act weird. with any other update I have had 0 issues. I’m trying to keep my composure but I have been at it for 3 days trying to find solutions. none of the fixes that people say “ work “ has worked for me. The only thing that has worked is going into task manager & restarting “ file explorer “ every 5 minutes just to use certain settings within the settings application. Another issue I was having was turning off & restarting my of manually.

So my question to anyone reading this is - should I do a fresh install from a bootable usb & format my c drive to potentially remove any bugs ?

any feedback would be gladly appreciated.

I cannot say I've had exactly the same issues as you, but I noticed that with KB5011831 it kills the service CLIPSVC so I've had nonstop issues.

Uninstalling it, resolves the issues with the service and app store.

The Client License Service (ClipSVC) service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 113 time(s).

I have the exact same problem with May 10, 2022—KB5013942. I have the same svchost.exe_ClipSVC event log with the path of the failing module: C:\WINDOWS\system32\pidgenx.dll on a brand new computer. I was also not able to activate Windows. During several attempts to activate Windows, an error 0xc004f200 occurred. I had to uninstall KB5013942 to be able to activate Windows and stop the svchost.exe_ClipSVC errors.

First, the issue returned with the latest updates pushed out this Tuesday so the patches are still messed. Issue was reproduced on fresh install of the latest build. Second, service is manual as per the default in Windows. Whatever was the issue in the preview build made it into the production build as well.

I've tested this on 3 machines all the with same result.

Thanks but in my case I uninstalled KB5011831 and everything is back to normal. Microsoft needs to validate this KB, it has problems.
