Error Event ID 1001

Hello,

Recently I have been running into an issue and i cannot figure out what is the cause of it. Whenever I play certain games (Fortnite & V Rising), the game will freeze and then i will have to manually kill the process to get back to my desktop. Initially I was getting the notification "Fortnite.exe has been blocked from accessing your graphics hardware," however I have not been seeing this issue again and it still crashes. The event viewer had 2 warnings after Fortnite crashed; both of which are Event ID 1001. I have uploaded them to a google drive and attached the links below (in English):

1st Crash Log: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bhVLglW78rUpcuD_4D0PkYSxSOb4hckJ/view?usp=sharing

2nd Crash Log: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tYDX_JKPyMere4TkoxgdZebfGXzi5tYo/view?usp=sharing

Looking at the system event viewer logs, the error is : "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

Just for a list of what I have already tried from googling and finding similar posts)

  1. Use DDU to fresh install GPU drivers
  2. Update all other Drivers
  3. Clean install back to Windows 11
  4. Check and Update BIOS
  5. Run application as Administrator
  6. Run application in Compatibility Mode
  7. Fresh installed DirectX and Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables (x86 and x64)
  8. Increased Page file size.
  9. Re-seated the GPU.

Some Interesting things I've noticed that might provide some context)

  1. GPU:
  • Ran Heaven Benchmark for GPU and ran perfectly fine, no crashes or dangerous temps
  • Ran Furmark to benchmark GPU again and ran perfectly fine, no crashes or dangerous temps.
  1. Application (Fortnite):
  • Limiting the frames to 60fps resulted in crashes not occurring as fast as 144fps.
  • DirectX11 resulted in the game not crashing as quickly as DirectX12.
  1. Memory:
  • Ran Windows Memory Diagnostic twice and found no problems.

If there are any other tests that would help me find the problem I am all up for them. I believe the lasts things to check are my CPU and my SSD and HDD. Also if I need to supply my computer specs in order for someone to help me fix this issue I will.

5/24/2022 Update)

I did a clean install on my computer and downgraded to windows 10 and am still having the same issues but even more now. My PC now BSOD randomly and on most games all with different error. Below is the dm-log-collector zip of my pc that includes all my crashes and dmp files and more: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uJA42yRO7VQwGNeLHtgRqn-OgtRZcaVc/view?usp=sharing

Thanks,

Nich

The DM log collector results were viewed.

Please run the V2 log collector and it will collect more useful logs for troubleshooting.

Sadly both of what you have mentioned has not fixed the issue. I did however get a new error on event viewer that has a .dmp file that I will attach to my main post.

Did you allowed the game execution files in antivirus softwares and in firewall.

Also add game execution files in the exclusions of antivirus software

    Hi,

Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are experiencing a game crash with event ID1001 when running V Rising and Fortnite, indicating that the display driver nvlddmkm has stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

Have you overclocked your CPU settings? Setting the CPU to overclock can cause this problem.

Also, make sure to set the power options to high performance mode and add the game to the high performance list so that the game always runs on the discrete graphics card.

I also noticed that there are similar problems solved by modifying the TDR, but modifying the TDR may cause other problems or make the problem more serious, so it is not recommended that you modify the TDR.

If possible, try to rule out hardware problems first.

Please feel free to let me know how it goes.
