Credentials Needed email

Out of the blue I've received an email stating "credentials needed". This email isn't in my inbox but sitting outside in notifications.

I am using a Samsung A5 android phone.

When I click on this email, it directs me to Microsoft sign in dialog box.

After entering my password etc the dialog box starts the authentication process for the outgoing server settings.

It ends with:

Can't connect to server 535 # 5.7.3 authentication unsuccessful.

I've cleared the cache and data but no joy.

My email account is useless as I cannot send or receive emails... can anyone help please?

I am having the exact same issue on my end too. Even putting in my correct password will not fix the problem

My email accounts suddenly started working as normal this morning, so issue now resolved for the time being... very frustrating after spending hours to solve myself.

But as I said, my issues eventually resolved themselves... keep trying to verify the credentials is my advice and hopefully by default it sorts itself out

I've figured it out! April 2023. I use a Samsung phone. On the phone I use gmail. But I also have an old email acct on the phone. It's an att email address, which is really Yahoo. For 2 months I get the "credentials needed" constantly and clicking on it takes me in circles like everyone else here. It states Yahoo when I click on it so I have assumed it has to do with that old email address. I deleted the email acct, restarted, and it still shows up! I scanned for viruses, nothing. I searched and googled, read these blogs and nothing works!. FINALLIY I GOT IT! just press and hold the message! Then click on " turn off notifications" that's it!!! Omg, that's it! And when you do so it comes up as a notification thru gmail!. So it really isn't a Yahoo thing. You're welcome! :)

Outlook.com (hotmail) is not currently supported here on Q&A. The product group for Outlook.com actively monitors questions in dedicated forums here.
