Hi all. I did search and was not able to find a solution. I have an Iphone 11 as well as an Iphone 8. I was using a Lumia 1520 until Microsoft discontinued Windows Mobile. I then moved to Android for awhile and finally Iphone. I have no plans to go back to the Android ecosystem.

So, here's my question. For the past year, my work laptop was a MacBook. I was able to seamlessly send and receive SMS and MMS messages on the desktop using the messaging app. I have yet to find something in Windows 10 (or 11).

Is there a way to seamlessly and wirelessly connect my Iphone to my Windows laptop?

Hi Kai. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

As you know the WIndows native phone app doesn't offer full features for iPhone. This is about the most it will presently do:

Easiest solution to get full AppleID capabilities is run MacOS in a VM on Windows. Then you can park the VM window on your second screen with the iMessage app open, and rock and roll. ;0)

One other alternative is to use a messaging app that requires a link to your phone (including iPhone) - like What'sApp, or my preference today: Signal.

These are not technically 'SMS' - being considered an 'over the top' (OTT) messaging layer (overlay on top of the carrier network, using packetized data transmissions over cellular RF) but they are readily usable by any user on a mobile platform since they are free. They also offer the advantage of end-to-end encryption.

SMS is a legacy tech requiring support from the cell carriers, and is likely on it's way to extinction due to the security risks / interceptability of those signals.

Frankly, i'm sick of SMS and the inability to edit previously sent messages in the event of a typo. Signal also offers the value of 'disappearing messages' if desired - aka 'this message will self-destruct... when I hit this button' **POOF**... no more data to subpoena.

Kai, I also miss my Windows Phone but have adjusted to Android. I wanted you to know that some of us MVP's at the time pleaded with Microsoft to keep Windows Phone, but they had already made a business decision to drop it - after buying Lumia which had always made great phones, and now is no more. I know there are also many loyal iPhone users who feel it offers a better experience.

Thank you so much for the descriptive reply, including the links. Unfortunately, it seems to get what I wanted I need a PC or laptop running MacOS. I appreciate you trying.

The last time I really ran a PC running Macintosh was in the early '90s, and back then PCs running Mac couldn't even get on the internet. Maybe they'll work better together soon. I don't plan to go back to Android, as I feel it lags very far behind the Iphone in terms of ease of use and functionality. (I used Android on phones running Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, and Ice Cream Sandwich. After Jellybean came out, I switched to Windows Phone and only reluctantly moved away after Microsoft abandoned it.
