I just built a new computer and am trying to install Windows 10 on my M.2 SSD through the Installation Tool (USB) provided by Microsoft. However its been stuck on

"Getting files ready for Installation (86%)"

For a few hours now. I have attempted to restart my computer during this process to no results. I do not have a bootable disc or access to an older version as this computer has not been used at all. Also no error messages so far.

    Hi Reeko,

I am Sumit here to assist you with this question.

There might be multiple causes behind the same. First and foremost, your new drive might be corrupted. Does your PC support built in diagnostics? From that, check the health of the drive. If that doesn’t help, I am afraid you would need a spare USB drive to either test the health of the drive, or try using a fresh media of Windows.

Also make sure the PC is in the simplified configuration mode i.e. no extra devices apart from keyboard, mouse and monitor are attached.

I sure hope it isnt hardware issues. I am currently in the process of installing windows 11 tool on my usb. Since im assuming windows 10 is just not compatible with my motherboard. Which I highly doubt. But I thought I would try anyways.

You might want to try remaking the bootable usb. Otherwise it should be a compatibility issue which I don't think is happening here.

Seriously doubt its a hardware issue though some SSD controllers can act weird during install or after its reboot when they don't like something.
