Windows Update Error 0x800706be

Hi,

For a while in Windows 10 I have been getting an error when updating windows, specifically these two updates:

2022-04 Update for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for x64-based Systems (KB4023057)
2022-04 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5012599)

Every time I try to install these, windows update fails and gives me error code 0x800706be

When I boot up my pc, it stays in the windows update "Please Wait" screen for a few minutes, fails to do any update then launches normally.

I've also tried many solutions on the internet, mostly the common ones you can find in youtube videos.

If it helps, here's some info:
Edition: Windows 10 Pro
Version: 20H2
Installed on: 12/20/2020
OS build: 19042.1165

Does anyone know how to solve this issue? Or if possible just get rid of the update completely? I'd love to boot up Windows without having to wait 5 minutes (I have an SSD and it would boot up in around 10 seconds until that stupid error showed up)

(edit) I just tried to manually install the update from the Microsoft Update Catalog and upon running the installer it told me "The update is not applicable to your computer." please help I don't want to reinstall windows

    Hi John,

I guess this might be the only other option from completely reinstalling windows. I won't be trying it yet since it will still remove all my programs (over 50) but I will consider it. For now I'll just stick to the 5 minute startup. Thanks for trying to help.

    Hello BumbleBeeChicken,

Thank you for updating me that information. I apologize that this did not resolve the issue.

If most methods fail, you may need to consider performing a Reset this PC using the "Keep my files" option.

Press Windows key+I to open Settings

Select Update and Security > Recovery

Under Reset this PC, click Get Started

Make sure to select "Keep my files" option

Wait for the process to complete

Please check the support article below for more details.

    Hi John,

I just tried to upgrade my pc with the media installation tool, and it failed to install (earlier when I tried sfc /scannow, it failed to start the repair service). Do you have any other ideas?
