"Failed to connect to host" Astroneer

Hello! I am on PC and I have been having an issue trying to connect to someone playing Astroneer on XB1. I am on a strict NAT type, and cannot change because I am on my college's wifi. My friend is on a open NAT type at home, but we are still receiving an error when trying to connect to one another's worlds. I thought that if one of us was using an open NAT type that It would allow us to connect but apparently not. What can I do to fix this and allow for me to connect to his world on astroneer? Thank you

Hello, I'm Louie, and I'm happy to help you today. Hope you're doing well and safe there. I'm sorry that you're having trouble with nat status.

Since you're connected to your school wifi, there may be some restrictions placed on their modem/router settings. The only way to change NAT settings is to go through settings modem/router and adjust the security settings.

But if you happen to experience issues with NAT using your own internet connection the most common solution is toggling UPn, Follow these steps to turn UPnP off and on:

Log in to your router's web-based configuration page to and make sure UPnP is turned on.

Note Refer to your router's documentation or support website for help turning UPnP on for the first time, or off and then back on. Make sure that the router is restarted each time you update any router settings. If the router doesn’t restart automatically, restart it manually.

Turn the UPnP setting off, and then save your changes.

Restart your computer from a full shutdown and restart all network hardware (your modem and router). Removing the power cords, waiting 10–20 seconds, and plugging the power cords back in is the best way to ensure a full power cycle.

Log in to your router's web-based configuration page to and make sure UPnP is turned off.

Turn the UPnP setting back on, and then save your changes again. If there’s another setting labeled Zero Config, ensure that this setting is turned on.

Restart all network hardware (your modem and router).

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,
