Cannot perform system restore to fix automatic repair loop

Anonymous

My PC running on Windows 10 is caught in an automatic repair loop. I have tried to restore the system using system restore point. I was able to choose and execute a restore but that somehow failed and now I am told that no restore point is found on my PC.

I have tried other options to get out of the automatic repair loop, but none worked out so far.

Can anyone please help me with this issue?

    Thank you for the advice!

I have tried already your methods.

    1.

A - This keeps me in the automatic repair loop.

B - This does not work as the system cannot find my restore points.

C - I tried uninstalling the updates but it failed.

    D - I could not run this command: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

I did try the other ones but they did not help.

E - I cannot get into the Boot settings for some reason (maybe because I disabled the automatic restart?)

    2.

I tried to boot into safe mode before and the laptop took me back to the blue page.

    1. I could try this but I understand that this will erase my personal files, which I still want to keep.
    2. Same as 3.

    Hi Shi,

I'm Dyari. Thanks for reaching out. I will be happy to assist you in this regard.

Kindly try the following methods to fix the issue (skip a step that you have already tried):

1-Force the computer to shut down 2 times until you get windows Troubleshooting > Advanced Options:

    A-Startup repair.

B-If you have a system restore point, perform a system restore.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/rec...

C-If you installed any updates recently, uninstall it

D-Click on Command Prompt > Type this command and hit enter:

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Once it finishes, type this command and hit enter:

    sfc /scannow

    Also try boot repair commands:

    bootrec /scanos

    bootrec /fixmbr

    bootrec /fixboot

    bootrec /rebuildbcd

Once it finishes, type this command and hit enter:

    chkdsk /r

E-If you have enabled fast boot in UEFI Firmware, disable it:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/21284-enabl...

2-If it did not help, start your computer in Safe Mode:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/sta...

if you could log in with Safe Mode, open CMD as administrator > Type these commands and hit enter:

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Once it finishes, type this command and hit enter:

    sfc /scannow

Then, restart your computer and check to see if the issue has been fixed or not.

3-If it did not help, create a bootable USB of Windows 10 and boot your computer with the USB:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/cre...

On the installation window, click on repair and try the options provided in step 1.

After that, check if it fixed the issue or not.

4-If the issue is still unfixed, perform a clean install:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

Be noted that you have to install the same Windows edition that was running on your computer in order not to face Windows activate issues.

If you have important data, try to rescue them:

Please let me know if you need further assistance and keep me updated.

    Stay safe

    c) no backed up files or images, files need to be saved

    2.

I think either troubleshooting or reinstalling is okay with me if my personal files on the laptop are not erased.

What are the status of the important files?

    a) files backed up to another drive or the cloud

    b) back up images

    c) no backed up files or images, files need to be saved

    d) no backed up files or images, files do not need to be saved

Do you want to spend time troubleshooting the failure to boot?

(unknown time period depending upon what is found)

    or

Do you want to restore file on a fresh operating system?

(this method requires the reinstallation of drivers and applications)

Please comment into the thread your preferences and then steps can be posted.
