Windows 11 Static/White Noise whenever sound is played

I had the exact same problem with static whenever I played audio through my earphones, and spent so long looking up possible solutions, and eventually managed to figure something out on my own that fixed the problem, after spending a bunch of time digging through settings. What fixed this issue for me was under Settings, go to System > Sound. Under Output, click on the device that's giving you issues, then under Enhance Audio, click on the little button that says Advanced. In your Headphones Properties now, click on the tab that says Advanced. I unselected every box on this page (Exclusive Mode, Hardware Acceleration, and Signal Enhancements) which didn't themselves fix the static, but did fix some strange echoing I was having. What finally fixed the static was under Default Format at the top, I changed the selected format to one with a lower amount Bit rate (from 24Bit 48000Hz to 16Bit 192000Hz) and that fixed the issue with the static right away. I hope this helps others too!

Here's the steps you can try.

-Go to Settings

-Click System

-Click Troubleshooter then Additional troubleshooter.

-Look for Playing Audio and run the troubleshooter.

-Go to Device Manager

-Expand the Sound and Video Game Controllers

-Look for Audio driver that was installed

-Right click and Update

Connect the headphones and proceed with these steps.

-Go to Control Panel

-In Control Panel, select Large icons from the View by drop down menu.

-Select Sound.

-Select the Playback tab

-Right click the headphones and click Enable.

-Right-click it again and select Set as Default Device.

-Right click headphones and click Properties.

-Click the Levels tab, then drag the volume slider towards the largest value.

-Click on Advance Tab

-Uncheck the box to "Allow Application to take exclusive controls on this device"

-Click OK.

Restart your computer and test the audio.

If issue persist, proceed with these steps.

-Go to Device Manager

-Expand the Sound and Video Game Controllers

-Look for Audio driver that was installed

-Right click and Uninstall

Once uninstalled go to this link below and download and install the driver.

Once downloaded and installed restart and check the audio.

Thank you for your solution, it worked for me. My problem was with static in both speakers and headphones. I solved it by unchecking all options in Speaker Properties > Advanced. Doing this solved it in both speakers and headphones. Strangely the static only came when playing sounds coming from an internet stream, because there was no problem with playing sound media that was saved on the PC. Thanks again!

I've had this issue since Windows 10. It usually required a restart
After upgrading to Windows 11, Once the white noise started, I could mute the speakers for about 10 mins & stop playing audio, then it would resolve itself & possibly return a couple hours later.
