Yesterdays update (Apr 15th) prevents me accessing my router

Since the big WINDOWS (10) update yesterday I can no longer log into my router; Huawei wireless B535 type.

Connects via network lead.
The log in is 192.168.8.1, and it renders to URL as attached.

DNS flush, ipconfig release/ renew has not cured, or rebooting laptop and router itself.
Suggestions valued; Happy Easter :)

My2nd Dell Laptop, also Windows 10, had same update, BUT can still log in OK?

Well it finally works again :)

In Edge the error showing was

    DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

As screenshot, if the inputted URL doesn't get translated into hirouter.net, it's OK.

    Thanks all.

    HAPPY EASTER

Glad to hear it, Gerald. Happy Easter to you, too.

Let me know if I can help further. I'll stay subscribed to this thread in case you need anything else, until the system locks it in a few months.

Do you access the router via a shortcut or do you type 192.168.8.1 into the browser address bar?

Hi Gerald. I'm Greg, ten time MVP award winner, here to help.

    1. See if you can System Restore to a point before the problem began following this guide: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-system-r...

System Restore is your first line of defense and can take you back to a point before a problem began like a time machine. If it doesn't help then you can undo it. Read about it first in the tutorial above and then try restoring to just before this started.

If the problem repeats or System Restore doesn't work then check which Windows Updates were installed at Settings > Update & Security > Windows Updates > Update History, uninstall them there or System Restore again, then immediately check for and block the Updates with the Hide Updates tool explained here which I would install now so it's ready:

    1. Try these fixes for the error:

I'll give you everything possible for Ethernet problems to try so that hopefully something works:

    1. Right click the network icon in System Tray at bottom right end of task bar to Troubleshoot Problems. Choose "I'm having a different problem" and then "Troubleshoot Network adapter."
    2. Try powering off modem, router and PC and then restarting in that order with 1 minute in between each.

    1. Update your network adapter drivers from the PC maker's Support Downloads web page using the full model number, HP Serial Number or Dell Service Tag on sticker. Compare the latest drivers available for download with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu. Make sure you have the latest BIOS or UEFI firmware, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now.

If you have the latest network driver then try on it's Driver tab also to Roll Back, or Uninstall and then restart PC to reinstall the driver. Try also all older drivers from Update Driver > Browse > Let Me Pick list working backwards.

    1. Go to Device Manager > Network Adapters, select Ethernet adapter, then Power Management tab, clear the check box to "Allow the computer to turn off the device to save energy." Then on the Advanced tab disable any energy-saving options.
    2. If you're plugging into a router then try plugging into the modem directly. Try turning off Modem and PC, wait 15 minutes to turn back on the modem, then the PC.
    3. You also are entitled to Support from your internet provider to get online on all devices. This is always included in the monthly bill. If your router is less than a year old they will also Support getting it connected and optimized.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
