After the Windows update on April 19 my Thunderbird email app stopped working with Gmail. I get an error saying unable to log into server imap.gmail.com Using Thunderbird on a Windows 10 computer with the same accounts works perfectly.

This has nothing to do with Edge, Chrome, or Firefox. It is an email issue between Thunderbird and Windows 11.

Can be a problem about Mozilla.org ... happens with Firefox listing numerous privacy breaches on the fly. Chromium backed by Google and used by Microsoft Edge is the de facto industry standard of web rendering engines. I use Red Hat that gives a good background of open source software stating going back to days when IE was the only web standard. True but maybe excessive ... for one and the other as Chromium isn't really open source ...

Ok great next I would remove the account and add again, often you can have issues with the credentials which are cached. This will force the app to request new credentials.

    Kind Regards,

    Elise

Hi, I'm Elise, and I'd be happy to help with your issue.

I would check first if you have the latest version of Thurderbird install on your PC, Gmail now requires connection with updated SSL protocol versions, which only the newer version of Thunderbird support.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

    Kind Regards,

    Elise
