Completely Remove Antimalware Service Executable

The Antimalware Service Executable is absolutely destroying my Windows 10 experience. It starts without warning, runs until it decides to stop, and takes up ALL of my memory and disk space. With the laptop I have, and the job I work, this is ENTIRELY unacceptable and I demand to know how to get this piece of garbage memory leak **** software off of my machine before I uninstall Windows and just switch to a GNU+Linux distro. This is horrendous and shameful.

I've done most of these. I am moving to Linux Mint, this is not worth my time anymore.

The fact that i see so many people having this issue, and so many fixes that rarely seem to work based on the responses of those with this issue, is absolutely and totally ridiculous. Having flaccid and ineffective software that only serves to leak memory and take up space attached to the kernel is beyond just oversight, its either malicious in intent or just flat-out moronic. If there is a solution that isnt one i just mentioned, please let me know. If i dont fix this in a week im switching to Mint because this is unacceptable.

Nope. I did that. You can safely assume i have tried every single fix that any google search will turn up. Task schedule, regedit, gpedit.msc, downloading a new AV, etc.

Thanks for the attempt. I've started grabbing resources to make the switch to Linux Mint, as i highly doubt this is solvable given how infrequently im seeing it solved around the web for others. If anyone else can provide any new answers i hope they do.

Hi RudieG, welcome to the Microsoft community, my name is Bruno Leonel, I am happy to help you.

I understand that you are having problems regarding the Antimalware Service Executable and I am very sorry for this discomfort. I will try to help you as best I can.

In this case, you will not be able to remove the anti-malware service executable as it is a feature that is intrinsic to the Windows kernel, but you can disable it. However, performing the steps below, all Windows Defender components will be disabled and the computer will be unprotected.

If you really want to disable it, I suggest you get another antivirus. If you install another antivirus, Windows Defender will be disabled by default.

    Completely disable the feature.

To carry out the procedure, you must perform the following steps:

    open regedit

Go to the following path: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Security\HealthService

Change the Start Type to 3

Go to Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), Startup tab, locate the Windows Defender icon, right-click and disable.

    Restart the computer.

NOTE: All Windows Defender components and others (such as Windows Defender Security Center) will be completely disabled.
