Chrome won't open when I log into my microsoft account in my computer user

I've had this problem for a while but I just can't fix it.

When I create a user on my computer and add my Microsoft account, chrome will open for one second (or try at least but then it turns invisible and closes) and close. I've done the %LOCALAPPDATA% and default folder thing from another forum but didn't work for me.

I noticed it was caused by my Microsoft account because at the moment I am using chrome but on another account that hasn't signed into Microsoft and it works just fine. After many trials and errors, I identified it was the account. But this does give me some problems since I can't install anything from the Microsoft store and I had some old purchases I can't access. This issue is only with MY Microsoft account, the other users of this computer don't have any issues.

Any help is appreciated!!

    Hi!

    I had the same issue recently, but I figured out how to fix it for me so it might fix it for you too!

    I made my microsoft account when I was younger and didn't want to lie about my age so I made a fake parent account like any other kid would do.

    Turns out, in microsoft family setting, the accounts that aren't the family organiser have any other Internet browser blocked apart from windows edge so the family organiser can easily filter Web searches etc.

    For me, the fix was as easy as loging into the family organiser account and unblocking access to all the browsers and now I can download chrome, opera etc on my Microsoft account.

    Hope this helps!

    Dear AbigailDRP,in that case I believe a reset on the PC will help;

    Press Windows key + I and go to Update and Security;

    Click Recovery;

    Under Reset this PC, click Get Started;

    Select the Remove All option and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reset;

    Note: it is important that you copy your personal files to some external device;

    After the reset log in with your Microsoft account;

    Check the behavior;

    Hope this helps, see you soon!

    Hello AbigailDRP, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

    Sign in with your Microsoft account and verify that admin privileges are enabled;

    Press Windows key + R and type: netplwiz press Enter;

    Select your Microsoft account and click Properties;

    Click on Group Membership and check the "Administrator" option;

    Click Apply and then OK;

    Check if the issue still persists, if it persists try running System File Checker;

    Press the Windows + X keys, select Command Prompt (Admin), copy and paste the commands below and press enter after each command.

    Sfc /ScanNow

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

    Wait for the process to finish and restart the pc;

    Check if the behavior still persists;

    I hope I helped, even more!

    I tried the admin thing and it didn’t work. The scan one did say there were corrupt files and repaired them, I was able to open the app for brief seconds after restarting the computer but closed after 20 seconds. I’m starting to think I should make a whole new Microsoft account.

    But thanks a lot for your input!! I appreciate it very much.
