i have received this error since reinstalling the DELL recovery disks. I cannot get windows update to find or install updates.
i have tried to research this problem using Dell Assistant and running SFC. This is a Dell Inspiron 3521. Can somebody help, please?

This makes sense if it's about Windows 8
Update Windows 8 Windows Update client to fix error 80072EFE
but the Update Client suggested has issues. Instead of it install KB3013767 right away.

Also you'll not be safe even with updates complete.

You say you have Windows 8.1; is it 8 or 8.1 as you posted in the 8 forums.
