How to dual boot Windows 10 on a Windows 11 machine

Hey there,
I brought a new laptop that comes with Windows 11 pre-installed. Windows 11 is good, but I have been facing audio driver issue, some stuttering while shutdown and restart (quite weird for a device running AMD Ryzen 5800H, 16GB RAM and 1TB nvme SSD) and other software incompatibility issues, which I was not facing in Windows 10 in my previous machine. So, I wanted to go back to Win 10 but after having a talk with Lenovo Support, they informed me that it may void warranty if I replace Windows 11 with windows 10.

So, the only solution I can think of right now is to dual boot. But problem is, there's no definitive guide on how to do that. Googling "how to install Win 10 on a Win 11 device" with all keywords like dualboot and preinstalled-windows11 returns articles that show how to install Win 11 in a Win 10 device and not the other way around. Some even mentioned the issues that you might face with TPM while installing from flashable drive which I've never unheard of.

It would be really great if someone could provide me a clear guide on how to dual boot Win 10 in a laptop that comes with Win 11 pre-installed.

Hi Tejas. II'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, specializing in Installation, Performance, Troubleshooting and Activation, here to help you.

It's the same steps as here:

    https://nerdschalk.com/how-to-dual-boot-windows...

Shrink C in Disk Management by about 100gb or as large as you want Windows 10 to be.

Boot into Windows 10 media to do a gold standard Clean Install of WIndows 10 to the shrink space, following this tutorial which is the best install of Windows 10 there is: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

It should create a Windows Dual Boot menu, if not install EasyBCD, on Add New Entry tab add the other OS giving it a name you'll recognize, type, drive letter showing in Explorer. Add Entry with green + button, restart to Dual Boot menu.

EasyBCD free download, no name or email needed, just click Download:

Feel free to ask back any questions. If you'll report back results for each step it can help determine what else needs to be tried. I will stick with you until it is fixed.

    I'm glad to help, Tejas.

Once it's working I'll write out the method to remove either OS in case you decide to keep only one, so you can bookmark it in case it's needed.

Keep me posted on your progress as I will be here to help until the case is resolved.

Hi Greg - I just set up my machine for dual boot per your instructions. Can you provide the info on how to remove either OS now? Thanks.
