Microsoft "sent" me this very lengthy recovery code of 25 alpha and number characters. Do not understand what is going on.

Help please. 'Appears' I got Hacked June 1, 2022. Ran Norton and IOLO, neither full scan found anything they had to clean out; all seems to be back in order. My Windows Services are all running. I do see Unsuccessful Tries in My Account Activity; that has been going on since I got a new Mobile Phone

last year [Android] I never used my phone to sign into Windows until this issue June 1, I emailed someone. Each time I use the email link from MS to My Activity Account, I have to get a Verification Code in a Text Msg to my phone. I use the Code to sign in. I also get emails about Suspicious Sign ins; If this was/was not you, etc. Previously on April 23, 2022, I got this 25 character/number combination Microsoft Account Recovery Code. Use this new code. Where would I use this code . . . is there a site I access and enter it? I don't think I fully understand the Activity Account Pages. If I click on "This isn't me" tell us . . . I don't get a response from Microsoft.

What generates the IP Addresses in the entries? They don't belong to my PC or Mobil. Am never using my PC or Mobile at 2 or 4 AM. I use to be able to cleanup my Computer; I am a little older and this incident on June 1, 2022 really "rattled" me. I cannot get a phone number to have Microsoft Techs repair things remotely as before when it was a Security Issue - all I found was they do not do remotely anymore, it is all done online. The [Tech doing my Hacking] told me IOLO is only a System Help Software not Malware. I just renewed it and bought Support; IOLO uses US Tech for help.

Unless Microsoft fixes this, am I left to see if Norton, IOLO or Pay a local Software Tech to do it?

Are the Best Buy Geeks good, do you know?

Thanks, Cassie

People download malware and get their information stolen every day.

This is the advice i give.

Hacking is illegal in most countries.

Contact your local Law Enforcement Agency.

You should reinstall the operating system but wait until you have contacted the authorities as they may want to do a forensic examination of your machine.

And if you do Internet Banking, contact your Bank, explain it to them and change Passwords.

If you use your Credit Card online, cancel it and get a new one issued to you.

There are virus and malware forums here if you want to ask any more about them.

Thank you Bill Smithers. I will be using DBAN soon. Have a second question. I have information on the Business/Person that hacked my PC downloading a Trojan Virus. Do you think Norton or Microsoft Security would be interested in it?

    Thank you again.

DBAN is good open software. It will wipe any operating system it finds.

Thank you for replying, sorry for being so long in saying it. I do realize you are volunteers and do not work for Microsoft. As to IOLO, appears you are right. I have been subscribing it for several years and because my PC ran smoothly . . . this time I bought their three-year ultimate defense includes one year of Complete [?] Phone or Remote Support for all on my

PC. That did not happen, so like you I will not recommend it.

With PC getting hacked, I am going to [try to] wipe the HD and install Windows 10 [from disc I bought] my HP Files for my HP Printer; Norton and personal files. I have done this before, but not wiping the HD.

I need to ask your opinion, is DBAN a good Software for cleaning off the HD? Last I read, Norton recommends it. Any advice is welcome.

    Thank you, Cassie.

FYI: I would not touch Iolo

We do not work for Microsoft; we are mainly volunteers here.
