Is it possible to set FTP Server for client (on same WiFi Network) without requiring client login ?

I need to transfer via WiFi audio files to a iPod Touch which can no longer login my Apple account.

  1. In the "Authorization" section, use the drop-down menu, and select Specified users option.
  2. Type the email address of your Windows 10 account or local account name to allow yourself access to the FTP server.
  3. Check the Read and Write options.

    Hi Sunny PA Wong,

Welcome to Microsoft Community, I will try my best to help you.

I think that if your Apple account cannot log in, you can copy music files to iPod through other third-party software, because mobile devices or music devices cannot directly access the FTP server and must be accessed through third-party software. This is inconsistent with your purpose. I suggest you go to the Internet to find software for iPod transfer files to solve this problem. If you still need to build an FTP server without login verification, please refer to the following:

    1. Click search on the taskbar, type "Control Panel" and open it.
    2. Click "Turn Windows features on or off"(as the picture shows) Image
    3. Select all nodes under Internet Information Service, as shown in the following figure Image
    4. Type "Computer Management" in the search on the taskbar and open it Image
    5. Click on "Internet Information Services" on the left, right-click on your computer name, and select "Add FTP Server" Image
    6. Enter the name and physical path of the FTP web page (the path to the folder where the files you want to transfer are located, which can be the entire local disk or a single folder), then click "Next" Image
    7. Enter the IP address of your computer (usually click the drop-down button of the IP address to directly select) and the Port (default). Check "Start FTP site automatically", select "No SSL" for SSL and click "Next" Image
    8. Please select "Anonymous" for authentication, "All users" for authorization, "Read" and "Write" for permissions, and then click "Finish" Image

This builds successfully. Please open the resource manager, enter ftp://your IP address of the computer in the address bar and press Enter(like ftp://1.1.1.1/ The path does not exist in FYI format), you can see the files on the FTP path, other devices can directly open the path by entering this path under the same network. document.

    Thanks for your reply!

I understand that you cannot log in to the FTP server using the same email address as the IIS client server. Please try another email address to log in. In addition, through my tests, the set 'anonymous login' actually does not require account password authorization, but from the design of an FTP may have multiple users logging in at the same time, the input of email address is designed to allow the server to record access logs.

It could be possible that you will get it but FTP and SSH are not exactly great things when you have to figure them out. If you can't though, there's a bunch of alternative free ways to do so. I will list one example following.

Resilio Sync is free software that allows you to sync files locally or even remotely if desired between eg Windows and Mac for free and doesn't need an account to do so. https://www.resilio.com/platforms/desktop/

thanks for prompt support. Getting App to iPod transfer files is not feasible for my iPod; App Store needs me to login but latest iOS version this iPod is capable of is no longer supported for login.

As for ftp client login, it ask for eMail address even though setup is for Anonymous. I used same eMail address as client server; it is not allowing me to login without error message but Window returns to same login screen.
