Asus laptop stuck in aptio setup utility

My Asus laptop is stuck in a loop which makes it restart and enter the Aptio setup utility mode time and time again. I've tried restarting and adjusting the boot options and only once did it come out of the loop and I had to plug in a hard drive and press any key (both did not have any effect). Since this is stressing me out: does anyone have any suggestion on what to do?

    Hi Meinke,

If you cannot access that, there may be a problem with your BIOS, the best option is to take your PC to the repair centre, to have it tested.

    Hi Meinke,

    Please try this method.

One the Boot menu enable Launch CSM

On the Security menu disable Secure Boot Control

Select Save & Exit and press Yes

Press the Power Button on your system for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a hard shut down

Start your PC, just as Windows attempts to load (spinning dots), press and hold Power Button for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a Hard Shut Down

    Do this twice

On the third start Windows will boot into the Recovery Environment and from there you can access System Repair, Safe Mode, Command Prompt . . . etc.

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - System Restore

Check to see if you have a restore point you can go back to

    Hi Dave,

When I checked it, the internal hard drive was the default boot device, I assume that that means the same as the primary device? After saving and restarting, the BIOS started again..

Thank you so much for trying to find a solution!

    Hi Meinke

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Boot into BIOS, then find the option to apply defaults and do that

Find the boot priority order, is the internal drive set as the primary boot device?

Check to ensure Secure Boot is enabled and CSM is disabled

Save those settings and restart your PC to see if it boots correctly into Windows.

Asus support, they will show how to run diagnostics on boot

For bios, set system defaults, and ensure nothing is plugged in when re-booting
