I don't know why, but my Xbox controller won't connect to my computer. I tried both Bluetooth and wired connection, but neither worked. Is there something wrong with my computer?

Good day KipKishibe! I am glad to be able to provide assistance to you today. I understand that the Xbox controller is not able to connect on your PC. Just to check, have you tried it on a different PC (via wired and Bluetooth) and have you tried it on a different device just like connecting to a phone via Bluetooth?

    Regards,

    Paul R.

Hey Kip. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

Try these fixes working for Xbox controllers:

I would like to specify that it won't show up on the Bluetooth list, nor will it work with USB.

Hey! Both of my controllers will show up on my phone's Bluetooth list, but it won't show up on the computer's. I don't have another computer to test the other thing. Maybe it's my computer? It has been known to do stupid stuff.

Is it an official or 3rd party? That can make a difference. 3rd party will not always work.

Also make sure the controller firmware is updated.

If those two are good then make sure your Windows OS is fully updated.

It should just work in that case. You could try Steam as it has its own built in controller support in its settings and you can also try an application called x360ce.

If everything above isn't it then probably your computer is blocking it for whatever reason. Usb issue, OS issue, AntiVirus application issue, etc. Something would be causing an issue.
