Different text size on 2 ,omitors

Can someone help explaning / fix the following. In Windows 11 I cannot adjust my text size different on the 2 monitors I am using. One monitor is the laptop and if I click on monitor 1 and adjust text size it adjusts it on both monitors. The same goes for the custom scaling. I would like to have different scaling / text size because it is to small on the laptop to read, and if I adjust it to be bigger it gets to big on the external monitor so many windows become unreadable without using the sidebars to move the picture.

    Hi Ricky,

I assume you are are extending the display rather than duplicating

when duplicating, the settings apply to both monitors.

When extending the desktop, although custom scaling and text size applies to both monitors, the drop down box in Settings -> System - > Display -> scale, only applies the selected monitor.

As this "scale" dropdown will only allow a setting of greater or equal to 100%

you would need to adjust the laptop monitor.

go to settings -> system -> Display
make sure that the laptop monitor is selected in the graphic at the top of the page

then under "scale & layout" click on the dropdown box next to "Scale" (avoid the chevron on the far right)

I suggest you make small adjustments until you find one that works for you, try 125% to start

You need to turn of custom scaling first.

click on "turn off custom scaling and sign out".

    then sign in again

go back to Settings -> System -> Display

select the laptop monitor at the top of the page and adjust the Scale (not custom scaling)

I have the monitors set as Extend These Displays.

No matter which monitor I check it shows the same settings for Custom Scale and Text Size If I change the display on the laptop the external display shows the same settings.

When I go to Display settings it shows 350% shaded but when I want to adjust it shows the 200% it is set for now, and I cannot change it for just one of the displays. It shows the same if I go in via the right arrow or the drop down arrow

That seems to have solved the issue. But I would like to understand the problem and the function. Is there an explanation somewhere that explains the Scale and Layout adjustments is explained?

    Thank you very much.

The behavior of these adjustments is very strange, but there are several things in Windows 11 that reacts strange
