Computer has become extremely slow and laggy all of a sudden

I am using Windows 10 home, processor is Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz 4.01 GHz, 16.0 GB, 64 bit.

When for example I scroll over folders, it takes a couple seconds for it to be highlighted, everything is overall gittering. It gets particularly worse when I open games such as Minecraft or any other game for that matter. Opening a new tab in browser makes it gitter as well. Another weird thing that happened is that my headphones disconnected and my sound has gone off.

I have tried system repair restore, I've updated my graphics card, I've run a scan, I can't open any game without my computer dying, this never happened before. For some context I have been running my computer 24/7 for a while now on and off, years even, I wonder if this may have damaged one of my components? I also noticed spikes in my CPU, Disk 0 and Wifi and sometimes memory.

Please, I really need help!

    Hi SihoUnderscore.

I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

Does your computer have a manufacturer and model, or is it customized?

If System File Checker doesn't help, perform a clean boot to see if any third-party program in the background is causing this problem. Follow the instructions carefully.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-t...

If the problem does not occur after a clean boot. In this same article, there is a technique to help you identify which program is causing this in "How to determine what is causing the problem after you do a clean boot".

After finding the cause or if it does not help, return to normal boot as instructed in "Reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting".

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions.

What is the manufacturer and model of the computer? If it is a custom computer, what is the motherboard manufacturer and model?

Start Windows in Safe Mode with Networking, and see if the same behavior occurs.

You don't have to run Windows in safe mode forever. This is just a test to help isolate the source of the problem.

Hi David, I have tried the File checker and it did say there were corrupt files that it fixed, however that didn't solve the problem. I tried a clean boot but to no avail, the computer is very laggy even as I type this and when trying to boot up games, it's a bit smoother in admin but it lags as I start moving the mouse and playing, the audio also lags with it if that helps. Do I possibly have a memory leak?

A branded PC, if so see that makers site as to how to run diagnostics on boot

File explorer > This PC for C:\win what is shown for xxGb free of xxGb?

    In addition the DISM/sfc Process
