Windows 11 not pushing usage beyond 16 GB

Hi,

I would like to know if my observation below is normal for my windows 11 or not. I just realize that my ram 'seems' cannot push beyond 16gb as if something rate limiting the usage.

or probably it just that i don't actively using the laptop, but my expectation actually is to see a zig zag graph instead of just flat line graph.. (i just use browser, excel, and other normal works)

I think i already know my answer. It is i am not use enough software to utilize the RAM. When I ran a test using prime95, it can push beyond 30GB.

It just that i am curious why the graph is straight line graph instead of zig zag. But i guess thats how it is...

What programs are you running when you hit the 16GB limit?

In other words, what is in the "Processes" tab?

    .

It appears you have 2 x 16GB chips for a total of 32GB.

You have 64bit Windows, so it can handle 32GB of RAM.

But Windows is peaking at 11.1GB.

    Very strange

It looks like you are hitting some sort of software limit, since it does not appear to be a hardware issue.

    .

Try going crazy. Open a bazillion tabs in your browser. Open youtube in each tab. That should push your RAM, and CPU usage up.

The Chrome browser has a reputation for using lots of RAM. FireFox is one of the biggest users on my system.

    .

Do you have any other programs that do a lot of processing? Do you do any video processing? Or photo manipulation? Load several 4K images into GIMP (it's free). Load some 4K videos into VLC video player.

    Hi thesuperninja

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Windows does not have the ability to cap RAM usage, there are two possibilities that may be causing this.

    1

Your other hardware can only handle (address) more than 16GB of RAM

    2

You are not using enough software to need more than 16GB of RAM

    3

I need to check the rest of your hardware, click your Start Button, then just type msinfo and press Enter, please provide a screenshot of the resulting System Information window.

Win manages ram usage, then it depends on what software you are using as to how much ram is used
