Very High power usage by 'system' is causing my laptop to overheat. Also my cursor slows down every now and then which I think is due to some performance issue.

    Hi,

I performed the tasks as you said. The power usage is no more 'very high'. It shows low to very low in all the boxes.

The laptop is no longer overheating. What should I do next to pinpoint the source of the problem?

EDIT: I found the source of the problem. It was NVIDIA GeForce Experience. Just turn off the in-game overlay from settings and the problem disappears. If not, then try turning off the nvidia or intel services from System Configuration App.

No the problem is microsoft has a huge issue with Task Manager! My custom built 11th gen watercooled desktop does the same thing (minus the overheating obviously) but very high power usage (randomly but sometimes very low) in task manager AND none of the real time monitoring on the cpu or memory works it just looks froze. Although resource monitor shows the monitoring just fine & when I try to close task manager it freezes every time! Have to click the x like 9 times then still have to close it from the taskbar which then finally says "task manager is not responding" restart, close or wait for it to respond.

I understand that microsoft is working on a visually redesigned update of task manager which should also fix these issues but I was expecting that to be released like what seems a year ago.

To be fair this OS was updated from win 10 pro BUT I dont expect a clean os install to resolve it (its a well known issue ) & Im not going to bother till that TM update is released.

Just found an article from december 2021 reporting the exact issue smh

    Good Day RishiGupta9,

My name is Carlo, I am also using Windows 11 and a community member like you.

I can feel the urgency to get this fixed, let us work together to sort this out.

You can scan your computer using the free version of Malwarebytes scanner to check if there are malwares or adwares running in your system.

    Here's the link to download.

    https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/thankyou

Once downloaded and installed open the app and perform a scan and check for infection.

Once the scan is done restart your computer using cleanboot.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-t...

    Restart and check the usage.

I hope the information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Carlo T.
