Epson CX6600 Printer Driver

I have an Epson CX6600 printer - I know it's old but it works fine. It was running happily in Windows 10 on my 9 year old Desktop.
I have installed an SSD to replace the existing 1TB hard drive, and the cloned copy although mostly working had some windows 10 errors that windows was unable to repair, so I have resorted to a clean windows installation 21H2 (Version 10.0.19044 Build 19044).
Everything is really quick and I managed to reinstall my Office 2016 OK. However the printer is not installing correctly.
The Epson site says that the driver is included in Win 10, and having spent 30min on their chat line, they can't offer a solution.
I have tried the windows trouble shooter - unable to resolve, and also deleting the printer, rebooting and trying again.
It shows the printer as USB2.0 MFP(Hi-Speed) but says Driver is unavailable, and reports status as "Needs Troubleshooting", which as stated above fails.
HELP.

Hi Allen, I am Paulo and I'd like to help.

I just checked some old threads with issues similar to this printer model in Windows 10 and found a suggestion that might work. I just updated some of the steps given by Do_Shiny from this thread and you can check if this works for you

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

    1. Go into Settings
    2. Go into Printers & scanners
    3. Add a printer or scanner
    4. After the search was completed, click on the "The printer that I want isn't listed".
    5. Click on "Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings
    6. Select "USB001 (virtual printer port for USB)" If USB001 is not in the list or didn't work, try another port
    7. Hit Next
    8. Pick the Epson Stylus CX6600

9 Use the driver that is currently installed - and hit NEXT.

    1. After this I had to power cycle the printer

After step 7, the printer was not on the list. Only "generic" and "microsoft". However I clicked on the "windows update" . I took severl minutes, but then loaded a big list of printers - in cluding the Epson CX6600. You are a star, thanks so much. I have just printed a test page. I haven't got the scanner running yet, but printing is a start.
