Hi

As in subject, recently my PC started restarting instead of shutting down and I cannot figure out why.

I have change what the shut down button do from option, untick from network adapters option to wake up computer, I have check the hard drive with chkdsk, dism & sfc and there is no corrupt files, watched hungered of videos on YouTube and follow most of the suggestions but yet still it did not fix problem.

Recently I noticed as well that this happened after I try to shut down PC after playing games, so I have updated drivers and still no luck.

I’m going to be honest it is very frustrating and annoying and I need real expert here.

Please help

Thanks

Chris/Krzysztof

    Hi Krzysztof,

I'm Paul and I'm here to help you with your concern.

    Please try the solutions below.

    1. Run Power Troubleshooter

    Open Settings => System => Troubleshoot => Other troubleshooters =>Power => Run.

    1. Disable fast start-up.

    > Open Control Panel

    > Select Power Options

    > On the left, click 'Choose what the power buttons do'

    > At the top right, click 'Change settings that are currently unavailable'

    > Under 'Shutdown settings' disable 'Turn on fast startup'

    > Save that and close Control Panel

    1. Update the BIOS to the latest version.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted.

    Hey

I actually with help of engineer from shop managed to do it today, I mean update the BIOS, on top of that I have managed to update few drivers for network and intel from program “MSI Center” originally system did not want to update my BIOS and I have to create flash drive for it.

Btw my old version of BIOS was 1,30 and I was updating it to 1,8

Anyway, after all those resets while all drivers has been updated and BIOS itself I have test first if from main screen the shut down will work … and yes it did

My main concern was the shut down after I was gaming as this stage was the stage when my PC struggle

Engineer from shop clearly said that if update of the BIOS will not work he will recommended reinstall whole windows

So I have start playing for about an hour, and I try to shut down PC after quickly … and it actually shut down in first attempt.

Looks like the problem is fixed… for now at least, however I have noticed that PC starting slower? And shuts down slower as well - maybe it’s just my imagination now.

I will test it in next few days and weekend if problem will happen again

Just not to jinxed because it has happened only once so far, it for now working fine

    Hi Krzysztof,

Asking a shop for help is a good idea if you are not familiar with this procedure. But check first, that the new BIOS is compatible with Windows 11.
