Unable to install printer drivers connect Error: 0x000003eb

I have installed and uninstalled the printer using the drivers from the cd and website but get blocked; reviewed Regedit and see nothing wrong; have checked processes and the print spooler and windows are both on full auto; have switched USB ports have used all my laptop; have tried a USB cable and so far nothing has worked ! !

I have a laser printer and that works fine and the cannon works fine on my other laptop; lucky I have two; want a scanner and color printing so got the cannon.

So this begs the huge question of why the cannon work on laptop number 1 but not lap number two?   What does lap 2 have that blocks me; how do I find it and then fix it or delete so how do I compare what is running on both laptops; create a list to compare and then go from there?

Thinking the sys log might be a huge help but not sure how to review that and where and not miss anything; I know errors galore are posted there?

Need it fixed - awaiting help...

Hi Kristen. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

I would Clean Install the printer which almost always works, lasts longer and actually saves time. Windows still needs the full feature software to properly run all the features of a printer/scanner, just a driver and/or the new apps are not mature enough to be fully reliable. Follow these steps:

    1. Power up the printer, if wired unplug it's USB cable from PC.
    2. Go to Settings>Apps>Apps and Features to find and Uninstall any printer software.
    3. Use one of these methods to remove all of the old printer drivers:

If you receive an error that printer driver is in use, try these steps:

    https://techjourney.net/failure-unable-to-delet...

    1. Now type Control Panel in Start Search, open CP, choose Icon View. In Control Panel open Devices and Printers, right click printer to delete Printer and any scanner or fax of the same name. Restart PC.
    2. Go to the printer model’s Support Downloads webpage to download and install the latest full software package. Now is also the time to check for any newer printer firmware to install which matters a lot.
    3. Extract Printer software, right click Setup file to Run as Administrator. Follow the setup screens closely as you install the software. For USB it should prompt when to plug in the printer.

Older software may need to be installed in Compatibility Mode to run correctly:

If you have further problems reply back with results of each step.

Once it's installed and you've run a test print, then scanned it to see that it opens on the desktop, open the Printer software and go into its Settings to set the scan-to file location you prefer, also the email app you want opened for Scan to Email, if applicable.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. If you will wait to rate my post until we are done, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
