How to disable specific usb port

Heya! So windows keeps detecting and un-detecting usb devices that aren't even connected. I dont know if the problem is with the usb port or windows. So basically I am trying to switch that specific port off but windows keep detecting again, how do I do it?

It shows "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" and location as "Port_#0001.Hub_#0003". and this device keeps disconnecting and connecting (remember nothing is connected).

I would appropriate any help

Thanks! Have a great day.

    Hi Prathmesh,

If you uninstall that port, Windows will just re-install it, if you right click that device, select Properties and select the driver tab, do you have the option to just disable that device?

If not, because that is an internal hub on your motherboard, check in BIOS, if there is an option to disable that USB Port.

Another option would be to update your chipset drivers from the support page for your PC on the manufacturers website.

    Hi Dave,

Thanks alot for help. I checked the BIOS for disabling the usb hub option and it was there, I hard checked each one of them and disabled the faulty one.

I really appropriate it. Have a great day ahead. \o/

    Hi Prathmesh

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Open deice Manager, then at the top, click View - Show Hidden Devices

Expand the Drives section and the Universal Serial Bus Controllers section.

Can you see the device that is connecting and disconnecting?

If you can, what device is that?

Thanks Dave for a fast response. As I already stated it shows "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed" with ""Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" as device status. Could you help me switch off that specific port please. Thanks for replying!
