Why does my name suddenly "not meet guidelines".

I was informed 2 days ago, when I went to make a comment on a news item, that my name - I use my REAL name and have from when I started posting - "did not meet guidelines". I cannot understand why, suddenly there is some sort of problem with my real name which as I say, I have always used. It took a long time for me to try to contact someone, who then told me that Microsoft could not help, I needed to contact MSN which was virtually impossible, but eventually managed to send a message, and requested a reply as to what suddenly was wrong with my real name. I went back to one of the news sites and asked for a review. I checked earlier today and the message said the decision was reversed. I had no explanation as to what had become wrong with my REAL name. All I got was only that I could post again. I then tried to make a post, only to be told I am blocked still.

I cannot help but think that perhaps, it may have been because I had to report another contributor who on several occasions made harassing and nasty remarks to me. Each time I checked, their posts were re-instated.

I would like to know why my real name is a problem - I have no wish to go through the whole process of changing "my identity" on all my on-line sites.

    * Merged.

    Could a moderator please explain to me why my username, which happens to be my REAL name suddenly does not "meet guidelines" despite having used it from the start, and is used on all aspects of my on-line communications. I do find it very perplexing, very strange, and very upsetting. How is JO CALDER offensive in any way? Thank you - look forward to an explanation at your earliest convenience.

    The exact same thing is happening to me right now. Did you get it resolved? It makes absolutely no sense.

    It's now totally clear it's censorship. Mines be down for over a month. I've sent a request for contact daily and still have no reply or change. It really changed my opinion of the platform.

    @ Lord Scarcon - sadly, not. Got some information from a Microsoft assistant to go to "the Edge" Browser for "Help & Feedback". . I very much appreciate them taking the time to reply, as it is not really their area. Will try of course, but I may just get more "options". I just get the feeling that MSN do not want to explain their decisions, even if they seem a bit odd! As I've already said what is most baffling is I use my own name, always have done even on Facebook etc, As I mentioned in my original query, I used it from the start, yet why on earth on 20th July it suddenly did not "meet guidelines"!! Crazy or what - how, when it was fine from the start suddenly it is not? I got a message on my profile on 21st July that the decision was being reversed in my favour.....still waiting! As you say, it makes no sense at all. Would understand if it was a made up name that could cause offence to someone, but how can anyone's real name be offensive, for goodness sake. I was in on-line chat earlier with a very helpful assistant from Microsoft, who spent ages trying to make enquiries, and finally was able to give me a link to MSN - of course when I go to use it, no deal, just closes. I hope you get your problem resolved very quickly; maybe one of us will!!
