How to make facial ID stop flashing after successful recognition?

Hi everyone,

I've just finished setting up Windows Hello facial recognition. I'd like to have the option to have my computer turned on but still stay on the lock screen (like a computer without facial recognition would do when you turn it on), and thus I've turned off the "automatically dismiss lock screen if Windows recognizes your face" option. However, the recognition scanner keeps flashing after successfully identifying my face, and it's quite annoying when all I want is for my computer to be powered on with the lock screen showing.

I'd like to figure out how to implement either of these two solutions (if possible):

  1. Make the scanner stop flashing upon successful facial recognition.
  2. Only begin scanning upon key press, just like how you only get the password sign-in screen after you press spacebar or the like.

The computer is a Dell Latitude 7400 laptop. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I've set up both the facial and PIN.

"Once the Facial has 'recognized' it will no longer flash"

This is the part that isn't working for me. The screen shows "Welcome back, <my name>! Dismiss the lock screen to sign in." As you can see, the scanner flashes at me even after this message displays.

Interestingly enough, if I move my head off to the side, I lose the recognition and it goes back to saying "Looking for you..." I suppose the computer isn't actually unlocked at this point.

Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign in options. Try Improve recognition, see if it helps.

Did you not setup both the Facial & a Pin? then if you ignore the Facial you will be prompted to use the Pin

One the Facial has 'recognized' it will no longer flash

You can review/edit the lock screen settings
