"system" task high CPU usage

Hi guys,

I recently bought the GS77 stealth and so far so great. I encountered a problem tho.
There is a task in task manager called "system", that utilizes a lot of the cpu and cranks up the temps and fans (around 10% of cpu).
I tried a safe boot and it worked, but once I booted up to normal it started again.
When I reinstalled windows it was okay for a while, but the updates started to kick in and it started again.

I uninstalled "update for microsoft windows (KB5014668) and it works fine, however windows are ugly because of that and I worry that the updates will kick in again once I restart or turn off/on the laptop again.

Anyone who could help me, please?

Thank you

Hi and thanks for reaching out. My name is Bernard a Windows fan like you. I'll be happy to help you out today.

I understand the issue you have, nothing to worry I am here to help, I know some of these steps are already done, you have just skipped it if you think it will have the same result.

    Method 1. Do clean boot:

A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program.

    • In the search box on the taskbar, type msconfig and select System Configuration from the results.
    • On the Services tab of System Configuration, select Hide all Microsoft services, and then select Disable all.
    • On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select Open Task Manager.
    • Under Startup in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then select Disable.
    • Close Task Manager.
    • On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select OK. When you restart the computer, it's in a clean boot environment.

Method 2. Run memory diagnostic tool: A memory diagnostic tool is a RAM test to check if there are any issues with RAM.

    • Press Windows key + R then type in mdsched.exe hit OK then restart the device.

Let me know how it goes and I hope that helps.

Hi, thanks for the detailed reply, moreover since you have done a clean boot and it will not affect the PC for any performance issue, I suggest keeping it that way, moreover even if you update it should be all good if same I recommend to wait for another update that will supersede the previous update.

    Hello,

    thank you for the reply.

Memory diagnostic tool found no errors.

When everything was installed correctly up to date, I tried a safe boot and all seemed okay during the cleanboot, but I dont know how to identify the underlying problem while in a clean boot.

Now, I have tried to properly update the windows until the before last version.

Meaning, the next version I can update to is "microsoft windows update KGB5014668", however if I do that, I worry the problem will be back.

Now that I have rerolled to the previous version, it seems to work okay, "system" task is consistently under 1% while idle. It is possible that the newest version itself is not faulty, but I dont know how to find out with which program it is incompatible.

I guess I could keep it this way and stop the update in windows update tab, but something tells me its gonna update by itself automatically when I restart the computer.
