Alt + Shift shortcut does not change the keyboard language

Hello, I use Office applications frequently to write documents mainly in Word (but this happens in all other applications) in Hebrew and English. Therefore, I get to switch the language on the keyboard using the shortcut Alt + Left Shift throughout my typing. Recently this shortcut just stopped working. It no longer affects and even multiple presses on it do not change the language on the keyboard. Oddly enough, this keyboard shortcut does indeed change the language on the keyboard anywhere else outside of those Office apps. The thing is that I do manage to change the language on the keyboard using the shortcut Windows Key + Space. Still, this use is inconvenient and I am not used to using it to change the language multiple times.

I'm concerned there's an issue here related to my keyboard which is the SteelSeries Pro TKL, which when I connect another simple keyboard this keyboard shortcut does work, so I raise my question if this has happened to anyone already.

I would be happy to get some help because this matter affects me a lot in how I write continuously in documents in Word and even in the other various applications.

I just wanted to share that the bug was fixed yesterday with the new Windows Update, and now it's worked correctly.

Unfortunately, I performed the factory reset and it did not change anything.

    Hi Omer,

I'm Chukwuemeka and I will be delighted to help you resolve this issue.

You have indicated that you used another keyboard and you were able to change the language successfully so this issue is related to your SteelSeries Pro TKL keyboard.

    I will advise that you reset your keyboard using the steps below;

    1. Unplug the Keyboard
    2. Press and Hold the OLED Menu Button/Multimedia Button until the menu pops up
    3. Use the Scrollwheel to go to settings, click in then go down to factory reset and click in again. It will ask you if you want to do it, go ahead and click in one final time to select yes.

I hope this information has helped you in resolving the issue. Kindly contact me if you need further ideas or troubleshooting steps.

    Regards,

    Chukwuemeka.

Hi Fuad, the markings are indeed marked there, and even I can switch languages with these keyboard shortcuts anywhere other than Office apps, so I do not think the problem is there.

    Hello Omer I,

Thank you for coming to the Microsoft Support Community

You did not specify if you are using Windows 10 or Windows 11.

    For Windows 10:

    1. Go to Control Panel\Clock, Language, and Region\Language\Advanced settings
    2. in a section called Switching input methods click on the Change language bar hotkeys
    3. continue with the Advanced key settings tab, then click on the button Change Key Sequence

Confirm if the change input language is Left Alt+Shift.
    If it is:c
You will see the two languages (or one) that are present. Click on the language > Change Key Sequence > enable and use the drop-down to select Left Alt+Shift

    For Win 11:

    1. Click start > type "Language Settings" > Click on "Typing" > Advanced Keyboard Settings
    2. Click Input Language hot keys

Confirm if the change input language is Left Alt+Shift.
    If it is:c
You will see the two languages (or one) that are present. Click on the language > Change Key Sequence > enable and use the drop-down to select Left Alt+Shift

    I hope this helps
    Best Regards
    Fuad
