Microsoft Photo Viewer automatically applies yellow tint to photos

Microsoft Photo Viewer applies a yellow filter to all images when I try to view them, if I'm skipping between photos quickly there's a short glimpse of the normal photo before the filter is applied.

This doesn't permennantly change the images however it makes it hard to see the quality of the photos. Unlike any previous issues I can find online it's only the photo that's yellowish not the background.

I've tried to fix this by removing the colour profiles and restarting my pc however this didn't help.

I'm currently using windows 10

Thanks in advance,

Harvey

Ok

now i solved it

I solved following this guide:

  1. go to Colour Management (search in the search folder)
  2. select the monitor you are looking the photo into (IMPORTANT! i did it once and did'nt worked because i was selecting the wrong monitor)
  3. check Use My Profile
  4. remove the current color profile
  5. add a new profile and select sRGB IEC61966-2.1 under ICC Profiles
  6. close and reboot

If you don't whant to remove the colour profile, you can try to add a new one and select it as a default profile.

Hope this help

solved it by completing system calibration of screen in Windows 10. Visit Colour Management, click the Advanced tab, click Calibrate display button. Go through with whole calibration. I didn't change a thing, my calibration was fine. After completing calibration, yellow tint disappeared (you have to close the open Photos app windows, and open them again).

Thank you! Fixed it for me! Worked even without a reboot.

I too went through the whole reset reinstall nonsense. What a waste of time when the fix was this simple. One day it was working and the next day it was not. I did not remember that I'd switched colour profiles to my printers colour profile when printing to maintain colour accuracy.

Just an FYI you will need to change your system default to whatever profile you pick for your monitor to avoid the "shift" in colours when opening up the image.

It perfectly works in Windows 10, but in Windows 11 it doesn't.
Changing the profile doesn't help to get rid of the yellow tint.
