Hello,

I just did the windows update for my Asus Tuf gaming F15 and when my computer booted up again it could not detect any networks (not the networks was connected to, not my phone hotspot or any other unknown network).

The device manage states WIFI 6 Mediatek MT7921 "the device could not be started (code10)"

I have tried:

  • restarting
  • rerolling the update however I have no prior image saved
  • updating the driver (they're up to date)
  • force updating the driver by redownloading them
  • uninstalled and resintalled the drivers

All to no avail, would you help me please ?

Thank you in advance.

    Hi everyone,

    @Brett W Dickason, you should access if you use an ethernet cable (rj45)

    I just called Asus french support, to explain the issue.

    It seems that the BIOS setting was modified with Windows Update.

    The Asus employee made me reset the bios setting and after that, my wifi worked again.

    For BIOS version 310 ONLY (i don't know if it's working for other version)

    1 - after full booting (and you see the desktop), press the power button for 20s (wait for the 20s even if you have a black screen like the PC is shutdown)

    2 - press power button to boot and press F2 until you get to the BIOS.

    3 - Press F9 and answer YES to get the default setting

    4 - Press F10 and answer YES to save and restart.

    5 - PC will reboot by itself and after that WI-FI will be back (well, it's worked for me.)

    And for information, the employee told me to use windows update the OS and to use MyAsus for all the other, so I think that I will change the Update Setting in setting.

    I hope that this will help you.

    Sincerly,

    Hello DangVS, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

    I understand that the Mediatek MT7921 WIFI 6 device is not working properly;

    Initially I recommend that you uninstall the device;

    Right click on the start menu and go to Device Manager;

    Click (>) Network adapters to expand the session;

    Right click on the WIFI 6 Mediatek MT7921 and select Uninstall;

    After uninstalling, restart the PC;

    Go to the Microsoft Store and download the My Asus app;

    Open the app and click on Customer Service;

    In the LAN tab, download the latest driver for the wi-fi device;

    Go to the location where you saved the driver;

    Unzip the files;

    Access the folder and open the Setup file to start the installation;

    After the installation is complete, try to connect to the Wi-Fi network;

    Hope this helps, see you soon!

    Update on my issue: your suggestion fixed it. I think the first time I didn't do the whole sequence so what worked was:

    uninstalling the card in the device manager then restarting and then reinstalling using the .exe driver installer from the asus website

    thank you very much for your help =)

    The solution is

    Shut down the laptop

    1. Hold power button for 60s (probably less than that)
    2. Release power button
    3. Laptop boots
    4. Wi-fi module works again (internal memory cleaned)

    What’s the deal with it?

    The OEM mt7921e has had kernel support for much longer than the AMD rebrand of the same card. The reason it recognizes Bluetooth but not Wifi is that the rebrand’s PCI-ID is not known to the kernel. To make the existing driver work in older kernels you must register its PCI-ID to the driver.
