Hi, I need help with my PC connection. I have gone to my internet provider and we did troubleshooting, but both my PC and phone won't connect. The phone will connect if I reboot it, but the PC still goes out. What steps can I use to make sure it's not my PC? One of the techs at T Mobile internet thought it was my PC. What steps can I take to find out if it is my PC? I hope this makes sense. I have Windows 11

... both my PC and phone won't connect.

Your phone doesn't connect to the internet through your computer. It connects to the internet through your router.

Your PC also connects to the internet through your router.

It's the router that creates your local network, so you should setup and manage your network through the router. If you originally setup your local network through Windows, try to undo what you did. Then, dig out your router's owner guide and follow its directions to setup your local network. When your network is setup correctly, it's virtually bullet-proof.

This setup is not only technically correct, it is secure, and it spares your local network from anything having to do with Windows. Even if Windows were to get totally messed up, your network would be unaffected.

Thanks so much. This helps a lot. I'm getting a Verizon internet gateway. Verizon 5G internet. I did attempt to reset the network back to factory, but it didn't work. Do you think I should get a router anyway? Also it will be a self set-up. They don't send techs out anymore. But I have the phone number just in case.

What are you trying to connect your PC and Phone to? Is it your wi-fi? What type of modem/router do you have? How close are your devices to the router? What version of wi-fi are you using, 802.11n, 802.11ac, 802.11ax? Do you have MU-MIMO (Multi User-Multi input Multi Output)? How many devices are connected to your router and how many are allowed?

OK, so I don't have a router with my PC. Would it help me to get one? I tried to reset my network back to factory settings, but it didn't work.

OK this is going to sound dumb, but what is my router? My PC is connected to the gateway by Ethernet cable and plugged in, not connected by my phone jack. I'm switching from T-Mobile to Verizon, if that helps. I'm clueless when it comes to tech terms
