2022-01-07T20:03:21+00:00 Hello Baokan,
Thank you for reaching out to us about your issue!
Can you verify that the device is fully up to date by checking for updates?
- Go to your Settings
- Navigate to Windows Update on the left panel and click it
If there are updates available for install, you can install them and restart your PC.
If you've just restarted your PC after installing updates, navigate back to the Windows Update window and select "Check for updates". If there's nothing, then your computer is fully up to date.
If there were no updates available already, you can click "Check for updates". If there's nothing, then your computer is fully up to date.
Once your computer is fully up to date, try launching the service that requires the Gaming services (ex: the Xbox app on PC) to verify if they are available or not.
If that didn't help, you can try manually reinstalling the Gaming Services by following the steps below:
Reinstall the Gaming Services app on your Windows 10/11 device:
- Select the Search icon on the taskbar, type powershell, right-click on Windows PowerShell, and then select Run as administrator.
- In Windows PowerShell, type the following command and press Enter: get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
- In the same window, type the following command and press Enter: start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN
- Install the app on that page and select Yes when you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt.
- Restart your device and try to install the game again.
(Note: You can also find these steps under the "Still having problems?" section of the "Troubleshoot game installations on a Windows device" article on the Xbox support website: Troubleshoot game installations on a Windows device | Xbox Support)
Remember to hit the "Yes" button below if this was helpful and to mark this reply as the answer. If not, please let us know what you have tried in an attempt to troubleshoot so we can better assist you when investigating your issue.
Can you also let us know which version of Windows you are using?
Thank You,
XBF Dom

2022-08-01T19:37:20+00:00 Anyone having this issue, after hours of frustration with this, finally have it working.
Do not, as you may be advised reformat and clean install Windows as its not necessary, as are most of the possible solutions that I have seen in various posts.
The main issue with Gaming Services is keys in the registry including ghost service entries in the registry, there is a version mismatch, if you ever get this error no matter what you try as long as they are there it will never install, thereby rendering your Game Pass Ultimate experience virtually useless.
When I first got this error "0x00000001", I reset Gaming Services, that then caused another error "0x80073D26", that's when I found the services in task manager which were effectively ghost entries doing nothing.
Firstly I reset Gaming Services, then proceeded with the following:
- Go to C:\Program Files\WindowsApps find 2 gaming services folders, take ownership and delete.
- Open RegEdit as an administrator and delete the following:
Keys.
[HKEY_USERS.DEFAULT\Software\Classes\Local Settings\MrtCache\C:%5CProgram Files%5CWindowsApps%5CMicrosoft.GamingServices_2.45.11001.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe%5Cresources.pri]
[HKEY_USERS.DEFAULT\Software\Classes\Local Settings\MrtCache\C:%5CProgram Files%5CWindowsApps%5CMicrosoft.Gamingservices_2.45.11001.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe%5Cresources.pri\1d6937194966bce]
and all other Microsoft.Gamingservices versions in hereServices.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GamingServices]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GamingServicesNet]The version numbers may be different depending on what you have installed.
- Restart your PC.
- Once restarted open Microsoft Store find Gaming Services and install, it will now work.
Hope this helps.
Microsoft however your updating or installing gaming services, it has the potential to fail, if it fails the user is stuffed, took me hours to resolve this, the only advice I had was to, use PowerShell, reset various apps or to reformat and clean install, which for the majority of users is not an option, fix it.

2022-04-02T09:58:20+00:00 I have the same problem and tried all the steps yesterday, nothing seemed to of worked but noticed today - The Blue bar at the bottom is the Xbox App open behind store page, it still asks me to install Gaming Services but as you can see it shows under apps as if already installed. It will not 'update' and stops after acquiring license

2022-08-03T13:30:21+00:00 The following was posted online and worked for me. I thanked and advised the author.
Using Terminal as Administrator.
“get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers”
"Restart your PC, open PowerShell as admin again, and enter" - restart is VERY IMPORTANT
Using Terminal as Administrator after restart.
“start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN” - All done.
