Event Viewer error occurs daily and automatically: "You cannot uninstall language en-GB because the language is the system installed UI language."

Hello.

I am checking the Event Viewer on a newly set up Windows 11 installation.

I receive this error from the source LanguagePackSetup daily even though I completed the Windows 11 setup ten days ago.

The OpCode is 48 "Validate that language pack can be removed".

I have not tried to change any of my language settings, neither install nor remove any language packs. This happens everyday in the background without me initiating anything.

In my Language and Region Settings, the Windows Display Language has two options English (United States) and English (United Kingdom). I have English (United States) selected.

Why is this error occurring? How can I resolve it to stop it from occuring?

Thank you very much.

I should mention that I bought the laptop with Windows 11 Pro pre-installed. All I did afterwards was select English (United States) as the primary language, during the setup on first boot.

I went to Storage Settings (aka Disk Cleanup), under Temporary Files, and saw that there are 143MB of Language Resource Files, that I could delete to reclaim storage space.

I'm beginning to suspect that en-GB language pack was pre-installed by the manufacturer with the ISO that installed Windows and is now sitting inside the Language Resource Files.

I also fear that if I attempt to delete it via Disk Cleanup or PowerShell, the problem that is mentioned here will occur (which is that the space occupied by Language Resource Files will increase!).

Should I give it a try and let Disk Cleanup try to remove those Resource Files?

Or should I just live with both these daily errors in the Event Log and those 143MB of unreclaimed space?

Oh actually, I think the "language resource files" mentioned in your last reply can be cleaned up. The files listed here are "temporary files" and deleting them will not have any adverse effect on the operation and use of the system. Please delete the language temporary file and see if it is still prompted.

In addition, EN-GB, if it is a built-in language, does depend on the version of Windows that the manufacturer pre-installed. I have had cases where other community users bought their computers in the US but the built-in system language was German. Unfortunately, we ended up reinstalling the system using Windows ISO downloaded in the US to completely solve the system language problem.

I also found those language pack folders inside C:.

It appears that the en-GB folder is missing some programs that the en-US folder has. For example, it doesn't have the regedit.exe.mui (if that's of any importance, but I have a feeling that it is).

I suppose it would be a bad idea to just manually delete the en-GB folder, right?

    Hello!

As far as I can tell, no other events related to this error occur before or after it in the Event Viewer.

According to the logs in the Event Viewer, this error appears to occur even when the system has entered Modern Standby.

In the Details, a Process ID is listed, but the PID changes every time, and I haven't been able to pinpoint the Process Name.

I can send you a private message with the logs from the latest occurrence of this error. Do you need the .evtx file or a simple text file with the log in XML View?

Here's a screenshot of my Language settings now too:

Thank you for your patience and assistance.

    Hi delsPC,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

May I confirm that besides this error event, are there any other records before and after this error occurs in the event viewer?

Since you did not remove the language pack yourself, it was most likely done by some other service in the system. If you can provide more information, it will help me identify the cause of the problem.

You can export the event log of this error for a period of time and share it with me via community private message or OneDrive.

Your patience and cooperation are highly appreciated. We look forward to hearing from you.

    Best Regards,
