Dear Community,

I am facing this strange issue. When I copy and paste, the pasted text is not what was copied. Instead, it is some Characters (Capital letters) and numbers. This is very strange. I have been using windows for the last 23 years and have never encountered such an issue.

I shall be thankful if someone helps me with it. Thank you very much in advance.

The Windows details are:

Windows Specification

Edition Windows 10 Pro

Version 21H2

Installed on ‎12/‎21/‎2021

OS build 19044.2006

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4180.0

Example issue:

copied text:

router.route("/").get(RestaurantsCtrl.apiGetRestaurants)

pasted output:

GATXUWWYDFFHN4SK64F6H3X6UVUCRGMR6BXJ4JAPT2MMG5QI5VRQLQNE

Explanation:

If I copy [ router.route("/").get(RestaurantsCtrl.apiGetRestaurants) ] in one go and paste it, the pasted text is GATXUWWYDFFHN4SK64F6H3X6UVUCRGMR6BXJ4JAPT2MMG5QI5VRQLQNE

The source application and destination application does not matter, I have tried the following sources and destination:

notepad

notepad++

MS word

MS Excel

vscode

Windows for home | Windows 11 | Files, folders, and storage

First of all, I would like to thank you for the reply.

Yes, I have checked it in safe mode and it is still the same. :(

Should I proceed with the remaining sets. Kindly advise.

    Thank you.

    Best Regards

    Ehsan

Good day! I'm Raniel, a Microsoft user like you. I understand your frustration regarding this issue and I'll do my best to help.

Just to clarify, did you make any changes to your machine before encountering this issue? do you also encounter it when you access your account via safe mode?. Please see the steps under "From the sign-in screen": https://support.microsoft.com/help/12376/window...

Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language > and double-check your preferred language under "Windows display language" > click on it and go to Options > ensure that you keyboard is also set to your preferred language. You may remove the other keyboards to isolate the issue..

Once done, go to Control Panel > Clock and Region > Administrative , then verify the system locale under the settings for "Welcome screen and new user accounts" as well as "Language for non-Unicode programs". You may also go to the "Formats" tab and change it based on your preferred display language.

Kindly restart the explorer and clear your Clipboard Data as well

    1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc on your keyboard to open task manager
    2. Go to the Details tab > select "Explorer.exe" > Right-click and select "End task"
    3. Click on File and select Run a new task
    4. Type "explorer.exe" and press OK
    5. Sign out and sign back in, then check again
    6. On your search bar, type "Snip & Sketch" and open it
    7. On the upper right part of the window, click on See more (3 dots) and select "Settings"
    8. Verify if the setting for "Auto copy to clipboard" is set to On
    9. On your search bar type "Clipboard settings" and open it
    10. Scroll down and select the setting to clear your clipboard data
    11. Perform a clean boot: https://support.microsoft.com/help/929135/how-t... and check again.

However, if the issue persist, kindly perform a repair install of your Windows which fixes the broken system files on your machine. Here is a guide: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/repair-install-wi...

There should be no worries in performing it since you will select the option to keep your files during the process.

I hope this helps. Good luck!
