Windows 11 Surface Pro X - Cannot Install OVPN / TAP Driver

Hello-
When I try to install OpenVPN for Windows Client, I am unable to have a successful installation. I continue to receive errors that the TAP Driver was not able to be installed.
OpenVPNMSICA: tap_create_adapter
DInstallDevice failed: Error 536870397

I have tried OpenVPN clients 2.4, 2.5, and 3.

OpenVPN Support is adamant that their .msi and install packages are compatible with Windows 11. I am thinking that perhaps the issue is with the Qualcomm Chips that handle the Wifi/Networking (ie without a hardline ethernet).

I have also tried to Turn Off Windows Defender while installing and receive the same types of errors. I can also confirm that I am a Local Administrator on the PC. I believe the Surface Hardware components may not be compatible with TAP Virtual Network Adapters. Is this possible? Really hoping for someone to provide some guidance on getting this resolved.

Thx

    Hello Ariel Levy

I can't test it myself due to lack of equipment, but have you downloaded and used the Arm64 Package?

If it doesn't work, try the x86 package:

    Greetings

    Hi @Tekkie Boy

Thank you VERY much for responding so quickly and diagnosing the problem correctly as well. I did not even think to install the ARM version of OpenVPN but I guess the MSFT SQ2 processor requires it! The Arm64 package worked like a Charm!

    Much appreciated.

As tekkie boy metioned, have you tried arm64 and other versions of the installation package? Whether the problem still exists.
