Windows 11 High RAM Usage in Idle (8 GB / 50 %) / Memory Leak

Anonymous

issue is reflected in title it self.

i am using windows 11 since it's release.

facing high memory usage in idle - issue past few days.

Main concern is none of the app is consuming memory but task manager shows it is in use but doesn't shows the process using it.

so it's possibly memory leak.

while in idle it consume half of my 16 GB memory, issue arises when i use some apps, it almost uses 80% of 16GB while using chrome only.

it feels like i have 8 GB memory only. rest 8 is for whatever

After i start/restart my pc, memory usage in idle will gradually increase throughout the day.

in the beginning it's 4 GB memory while in idle.

at the end of the day it'll be using 10 GB of memory in idle.

Yes all the apps are closed nothing heavy running or so.

these are the solutions that i had found here in various answers and that i have tried to fix issue but failed

    Hi,

Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community.

Common memory leaks occur when the software is running, and when the software is not = not running, possibly because of driver problems.

Have you updated your graphics card drivers recently?

Consider reinstalling all drivers. See if it might be a driver issue.

Then you might want to consider doing a Windows overlay install.

1-Download and run the Media Creation Tool.

    Download Windows 11 (microsoft.com)

2-Now select the "Upgrade this PC now" option.

3-The installer will prepare the necessary files, so you need to wait.

4-Select Download and install updates (recommended) and click Next.

5-Wait for the update to download.

6-Follow the on-screen instructions. On the Ready to Install screen, click the Change what to keep option.

7-Select Keep personal files and apps and click Next.

8-Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the upgrade process.

Please feel free to let me know how it goes.

Hello! I've got the same problem, but my system is already running on it's newest version, I already tried to do what you told D_Excalibour to do, but just how I said, it is already Updated.

Do you know some other way to fix it?
