Every time I boot my laptop "This PC" window opens. I tried few fixes that I found on Google but the problem still persists. I would appreciate any recommendations that would fix this problem.

My Windows specifications are as below.

Installed:	‎19/‎09/‎2021

OS build:	19044.2006

    Hi JohnnyB,

Thank you for the screenshot, there is no startup process causing this to happen.

Open the Settings app, then go to Personalization - Start

Click on 'Choose which folders appear on start!', ensure 'File Explorer' is turned off

ImageThank you for the reply. Do I have to uncheck or delete the ones that I want to prevent from loading on logon?

    Hi mate.

Yes it is up to date as when I click update button it says "You are up to date".

By the way, I booted into the safe mode and both explorer and edge opened automatically.

Should I call Microsoft support if there is nothing more to try.

Thanks so far for all your help.

    Cheers.

    Johnny

    Hi Dave,

    1

    Explorer is not listed there.

    2

I turned off 'Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device and reopen my apps after an update or restart'

and restarted the PC. After logon "This PC" window opened again automatically.

I do not have a password it boots straight up and desktop.

    Additionally,

    In regedit navigated to

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

In the right-side panel, change the value of PersistBrowsers to 0.

    then navigated to

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

and changed the value of  Userinit to : C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe

Rebooted but still "This PC" window keeps opening on startup.

What else can I try please? It's really annoying. I scanned for a virus/malware but nothing suspicious was found.

Yes. I unchecked all except AVG but Explorer window still opens on startup.

All the toggles are off on "which folders appear on start".
