Hi,
I decided to purchase a SSD, so the problem is that I have windows activated with an OEM key in my HDD, I know that the OEM key is linked to the Motherboard, so if I install the SSD, will I have windows activated in both HDD and SSD?

Thanks in advance.

As you said the licence is activated against the motherboard and just changing the disk does not remove the licence. You can clean install at any time on the same HDD or a new HDD or SSD and it will activate when connected to the internet.

When you clean install just skip the screen prompting for a product key.

    Nope

Generally you use cloning software to clone to the new ssd, as soon as the clone completes you shutdown the PC remove/disconnect the pwr to the old HD then boot

After you can re-connect the old HD and format so its is available to use

If you have linked the Digital license to your MS Account, you can use it to activate the new Windows Installation (SSD).

You can see additional information from the link below.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted.

    Hi MatiasLastra1,

I'm Paul and I'm here to help you with your concern.

No, you can't activate 2 Windows Installations with one license even if it is on one computer. As per Microsoft, you can install and run one instance of the software on your device. If you have dual boot in one PC then it will count 2 instances.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted.
