Connecting Minecraft to Microsoft Account

I cannot get Minecraft to connect to my Microsoft account. The game loads up and when I click on the play button it brings up a pop up window that says Microsoft Account and inside it says "connecting..." My only option is to click ok, which closes the pop up. When I try to click play again, it brings up the same thing. Same thing happens with settings and dressing room. The Marketplace button has a red exclamation saying "there is an error with your account. You will be unable to use the marketplace until we have resolved the issue. If this issue persists for several days, please contact support." I have restarted my Xbox, unplugged everything and plugged it all back in, uninstalled then reinstalled Minecraft. I don't know what else to do. It won't even give me an option to sign in with an account or let me play offline without one. But I am also not getting anything saying that the connection has failed or that my internet doesn't work. I know my internet is strong enough to play apex and fall guys.

Yes, they use the same accounts. However it would need to be the Xbox app, not console which we do not handle here at all. For console questions go to Xbox Forums here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/xbox/forum? You are in the Windows forum.

Hi IYEQ. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

Go into the Microsoft Store app, make sure you're signed in with the same account that owns Minecraft, choose My Library, find Minecraft, click Install or Play.

    What happens?

Report back results for each step so I know what else to suggest.

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.

I'm trying to do this on Xbox, does the advice still apply?

Also, I have now reached the cauldron error screen after letting it try to connect for a long time. But I tried everything that the Minecraft page suggested

Your account could be corrupted. Test for account corruption by creating a new Local account to see if the problem goes away. Step-by-step instructions here:

    https://www.groovypost.com/howto/create-local-a...

Make it an Administrator account if you want user to be able to make changes: https://www.digitalcitizen.life/change-type-use...

Sign into the new account, test it works correctly by signing into the MS Store with your MS account to see if the game will load

If so move files over, test all apps work or reinstall any that don't. Then when ready delete the old account in Settings > Accounts > Family & Other Users.

You can then change the new account to the Microsoft account if desired:

Report back results for each step so I know what else to suggest.
