Windows 10 Pro x64 update to 21H2

Hi All,

I'm having software problems and the vendor wants me to update to 21H2. Windows Update does not offer me that update. So I went to the update catalog to do a manual installation, but it's not clear to me which file to download.

Can anyone tell me exactly which file to download?

Thanks for any help,

Charles

    Hi John,

Well, I didn't sit in front of the computer for 4 1/2 hours but I did check on the progress every 15-20 minutes. I saw the percentage go up to 85% when it appeared to slow down, 1% took 10-15 minutes. I continued to check the progress and I saw it get to 97%. When I checked again, expecting it to be at 98%, the computer had already rebooted and was in the POST process. I never saw it get to 100%.

I have a Dell computer with a USB installation disk. Should I use that?

    Thanks for the help,

    Charles

    Hello CharlesEF,

Thank you for updating me with that information. Did the upgrade process complete successfully or does it show an error?

If the issue still persists, Please try performing an In-place Upgrade. It will definitely help in resolving update errors. Performing this can repair broken operating system files while your personal files, settings and installed applications will not be removed.

**Unplug all external peripherals except for the Mouse, Keyboard, and LAN cable before starting

**Disable or uninstall any 3rd party Anti-Virus program to prevent it from interfering with the upgrade

Download the media creation tool(Click Download tool now) and save it to your computer.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

Open the tool and select Upgrade this PC now.

Make sure to select Keep personal files and apps.

It might take some time to install Windows 10. Your computer will restart a few times, Make sure you don’t turn off your PC.

Kindly let me know if this helps or if you have any further concerns.

    Kind regards,

    John DeV

    Hi John,

I followed your instructions and after about 4 1/2 hours the computer rebooted. I then checked my Windows version and find it still says 21H1. Did this tool create an error log? If yes, then where can I find it?

    Thanks,

    Charles
