why is my video on all platforms lagging and/or freezing?

I have windows 11 basic edition. All my system requirements were met when it was installed. When I watch videos on platforms such as youtube or any other platform (does not seem to matter) the video freezes after about say 5 minutes or so. I try to scroll the mouse and its been frozen. Not my cursor but the video page. I can get out of it by minimizing the window and it seems to stop the lag and/or freeze. That is if I catch it in time if I do not then my system completely freezes and I end up having to cntrl/alt/delete to get to task manager, which can take minutes and end task on my browser but then my whole system lags takes for ever. One time I had to do something and left only to come back and my whole system had completely frozen and had to hard start my system. Needless to say It never did that with win 10 just in win 11. It only occurs while streaming video on all platforms regardless of browser. All my drivers are updated bios is up to date. Is it perhaps a bug that needs to be fixed and has not yet? was it an update that causes me to not meet the system requirements now? One more thing if I scroll the mouse either of my two mouses both up to date both Microsoft mouses while watching a video, if I scroll them I can cause the freeze of streaming video almost immediately . Only when streaming video. Any help or insight would be appreciated. thanks

    Hi mrm0rgan,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

May I ask if you watch the video through the app or the browser? If this happens with Microsoft Edge, I suggest you try turning off hardware acceleration. You can click on the top right corner of the Edge... This button opens the menu and goes to Settings. See the image below to find the "hardware acceleration" switch.

Also, I want to make sure that when you open Task Manager during a screen freeze, do you see a lot of CPU/ memory/disk read/write usage in the process?

Your patience and cooperation are highly appreciated. We look forward to hearing from you.

    Best Regards,
