Hi All,

I have got a few 2008 servers, that I want to install and activate ESU. I was able to activate ESU on some of the servers, however, I was not able to activate on others. All the serves are in the same VLAN and same network security is applied to them. All got internet and got same DNS. However, only a few server, came up with an error "0x80072ee7. The server name and address could not be resolved" I have try resetting "netsh winsock show catalog" and "netsh int ip reset" however, no luck.

Any advise on this is highly appreciated.

We resolved the issue. The proxy setting on the server was pointing to one of our old proxy serves.

Ran 'netsh winhttp reset proxy' to reset the proxy setting.

New proxy settings are: 'netsh winhttp show proxy'

Current WinHTTP proxy settings:

Direct access (no proxy server).

Once the change had made, I was able to activate MAK ESU, straight away.

Hi @Nikhil Surendran

The 0x80072EE7 error code may occur if the client computer cannot find the correct IP address when it tries to resolve a URL for the Windows Update Web site or for the Microsoft Update Web site. This error may occur if the Hosts file contains a static IP address.

In that case, I would suggest you disable the DNS Client service and check if it helps.

-Click the Start button and type services.msc in the Start search and hit ENTER.
-Right-click on DNS Client Service and select Properties.
-Change the startup type to Automatic and click Start.
-Click OK.

Restart the services and check if you can activate the ESU.

Hi,

Thanks for your comment, I tried to disable the DNS Client and also tried to after "IPConfig/DNSFlush". No luck.

It there any way I can check that my server is talking to the Microsoft activation server. On KMS I know we can try that, but sure that is possible for MAK activation?

Firewall on the particular server is turned off so I am not seeing something is blocking the connection.
